Wide Open Fishing and Off-Road at the Ranch

Week Ending January 6, 2012

Water-  Very cold inside, especially from the Light house south, as low as 70, just five miles offshore the water warms up to 78 degrees!  Midday Easterly winds..

Air-  a little cooler this week, highs in the mid-80′s.  Mostly Clear skies.

A more consistent bite than last week.  Very good Bill fishing with lots of Striped Marlin being released.  A much better Dorado week, with some really nice Bulls taken.  Not many, but some big Yellowfin coming in, fish daily over 100#’s.  Three Wahoo taken this week between 55 and 80#’s.  very good inshore fishing.  There is still huge quantities of bait everywhere, but the fish are biting much more consistently than last week.  Midweek, cooler water moved inshore, outside there are huge temperature breaks, some ten degrees or more.  Boats working the breaks are really banging the Stripers and Dorado.  Inshore fishing was better early in the week, lots of Pompano, and Gallos.

Billfish-  With the very warm water outside, Blue Marlin are showing early.  The hotel fleet released a couple this week.  Boats targeting billfish are releasing at least one a day, some up to five.  The Striper fishing has been the best off Frailles on the temp breaks.  Lures, live Caballito, Mackerel and Ballyhoo all working.

Dorado-  Better fishing this week.  Lots more around, both schooling and larger fish.  Very spread, hanging in the warmer water outside.  Any floating structure outside producing fish.  The shark buoys off Pescadero have been holding some quality bulls.  Live sardine, trolled marlin lures.

Yellowfin-  A long run to the 88, and then normally a long wait, but  Yellowfin over 100#’s are being taken daily.  Sitting on the high spot, chumming Sardine and then baiting Caballito or mackerel is the only way they are being taken.  They’ll come to the surface for about ten minutes every two hours.  A very good chance at a 100 plus # fish, but not guaranteed.  Smaller tuna in th 15 to 40# range are being taken south, under Porpoise.

Wahoo-  Every week the hotel fleet is taking two or three quality Wahoo to 80#’s.  Mostly on Marauders and Rapalas.  All three taken this week were from the lighthouse south..

Inshore-  Very good early in the week.  The cold green water that came up midweek, hurt the bite.  Still lots of Pompano, decent Roosterfishing..

Cabo Safari Ranch Finish Line Baja 1000 2006

We followed the race from San Diego all the way to La Paz & Cabo! The Finish Line at the Cabo Safari Ranch in Los Cabos, Southern Baja California, Mexico. With NOS High Performance Energy Drink.

Nico at the Start Line with the race girls! We enjoyed Ensenada Baja Norte for the start of the 39th Baja 1000, the taco shops, the international shopping and the wine country of Mexico, in Northern Baja. We needed the extra energy of NOS High Performance Energy Drink!

Howard and Cindy in La Paz and on the road! All the way to the Finish Line in La Paz, Southern Baja California, Mexico. Over One-Thousand miles of dangerous Baja desert, we saw every “greatest hit” of Baja, The Best Of Baja. The beaches, people and land of Mexico.

At the Hotel California, the Tequila Bar. Baja’s Best Hotel, Restaurant, Tequila Bar, Gift Shop, has to be the Hotel California. We were treated like royalty in Todos Santos at the Hotel California, Home of Hotel California Tequila!

On the beach in Cabo San Lucas for breakfast. At the end of our trip, Cabo San Lucas and the Cabo Safari Ranch, we enjoyed Epic Offroad, Fishing and Nightlife! After a thousand miles of racing fun and the start and finish lines of the Baja 1000 we still had the energy to Rock Cabo with NOS High Performance Energy Drink.

Your exciting Mexico travel buddies at the Baja Safari Mexico Club & NOS High Performance Energy Drink.

First Baja Offroad Resort Opens!

Today, the First Baja Offroad Resort opened near Punta Arena, Southern Baja California, Mexico. 29 rooms, offroad rigs & deep sea fishing, great food and drink and located on the Sea Of Cortez.

Complete Travel Packages, Off Road Cabo Tours and Ranch Cantina Menus are loading…

Here’s the Press Release:

Cabo Safari Ranch Opens
First Baja Offroad Resort

Cabo Safari Opens its Sea Of Cortez Ranch! Offroaders from all over the globe now have a home in Baja California Mexico. The Cabo Safari Ranch is the First Offroad Resort in North America. The Cabo Safari Ranch sits perched above the surf overlooking the Sea of Cortez. Miles of untouched white sand beaches for superb swimming, snorkeling, diving and kayaking, Cabo Safari Ranch is the First Offroad Resort you will find dedicated to off road in the challenging Baja Wilderness that is worlds apart from the over commercialized resorts areas found in other Baja locations.

Looking at a map of Baja California, at the lower end of the East Cape below La Paz and above Cabo San Lucas, the farthest extending point of land is Punta Arena. This is where billfish, dorado, baitfish and most every other migratory species of warm water game fish that Baja is known for naturally congregate, as they move up and down the Sea of Cortez. The nearest resort to Punta Arena is the Cabo Safari Ranch.

The Ranch features an incredible location right next to the best fishing in all of the Sea of Cortez and the Cabo Safari Club grounds take advantage of this by positioning rooms and dining areas so as to afford sweeping panoramic views of the body of water Jacques Cousteau called the “aquarium of the world.”

Cabo Safari offers guests various types of fully air conditioned accommodations, from standard rooms to deluxe ocean view rooms. This twenty nine room resort has eleven ocean view cabana style rooms, ten ocean view standard rooms, 8 standard courtyard rooms. Cabo Safari also offers superb cuisine, a friendly indoor/outdoor bar, magnificent tropical gardens and a 3200 foot hard packed dirt airfield. Certified mountain well water flows from every tap.

Imagine stepping out of your room to gaze at the sea below, only to see dozens of 50-pound roosterfish zigzagging in a feeding frenzy in the crystal-clear water, just a short distance offshore. Dozens of other inshore species lie in wait along Punta Arena’s reefs. A short morning run reaches tackle-busting tuna, bull dorado, and voracious wahoo, Pacific sailfish, as well as striped, blue, and black marlin.

We’ll provide all the tools you require to enjoy this offroad and fishing mecca, including tackle-rigged 28-32 foot cruisers and 23-25 foot super pangas with savvy English-speaking local guides. Most vacation packages at Cabo Safari include your hotel room, offroad rig, charter boat rental and three meals daily in our casual dining facility. Packages can be tailored to any size group to 90 people.
For immediate release.
